US Iran War News Live Updates: US President Donald Trump on Monday threatened to bomb Oman if it “gets in the way” of a US deal with Iran on the Strait of Hormuz, as a 60-day deadline for negotiations expired.
Trump told Fox News that Oman could be targeted if it obstructed efforts to reach an agreement with Tehran over the waterway, through which much of the Gulf’s oil trade passes. He also called on Iran to surrender.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei said the 60-day deadline was “irrelevant”, arguing that Washington had violated a June memorandum of understanding soon after it was signed. He said no negotiations had begun under the provision because of what Tehran described as widespread violations.
