Two drones targeted the office of Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Masrour Barzani and the home of the region’s intelligence chief in northern Iraq on Monday, with no casualties reported, Kurdish authorities said.
The KRG security agency said the drones were launched from Iranian territory, though it did not say whether they struck their intended targets. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
Barzani condemned the attack as a “dangerous escalation” and a direct threat to the security and stability of the region. He said the Kurdistan Counter Terrorism Unit had investigated the incident.
“I condemn these reckless and unacceptable attacks in the strongest terms,” Barzani wrote on X.
