Lego figures are coming to County Durham to entertain families and encourage exploration of its historic streets and attractions.
The Enchanted Dragon Trail features unique brick-built characters, creatures, and displays inspired by fantasy and local heritage, organisers said.
Running in Durham city centre until 15 August, there will then be a follow on event in Bishop Auckland until the end of the month.
It is not Durham's first association with Lego - a scale model of the city's cathedral made up of 299,128 bricks is on display at the entrance to its museum.
The initiative by Durham County Council, Durham Business Improvement District (BID) and Bishop Auckland Town Council promised a "memorable summer experience".
Youngsters will be able to collect clues, complete challenges, and uncover the stories behind each creation, they said.
Karen Allison, Durham County Council's Cabinet member for leisure, tourism, regeneration and high street, said: "Lego has been capturing the imagination of children and adults for generations and we hope people of all ages will come along to marvel at the fantastic creations on display.
"By staging events such as the trail, we can not only provide free entertainment to families during the summer holidays, but we can support local businesses and attractions by boosting footfall in the town centre too."
Bishop Auckland mayor Michael Siddle added: "We're thrilled to welcome this fantastic attraction to our town.
"[It] promises to bring families, visitors and brick enthusiasts into our town, creating an enjoyable experience for all ages while encouraging people to explore our local businesses, heritage and attractions."
