6 Luzon areas under Signal No. 2 due to Tropical Storm Maymay

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 2 remained in effect over six areas in Luzon on Wednesday as Tropical Storm Maymay moved over the sea west of La Union, the state weather bureau PAGASA said.
In its 11 a.m. bulletin, PAGASA said Signal No. 2 was raised over the following areas:

As of 10 a.m., the center of Tropical Storm Maymay was estimated at 185 kilometers west-northwest of Bacnotan, La Union.
The storm packed maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour near the center, with gusts of up to 80 kph, and was moving northward at 10 kph.
"Maymay will move generally eastward and may make landfall over Ilocos Sur or La Union by this evening or early tomorrow morning (August 6). Afterwards, it will traverse the landmass of Northern and Central Luzon tomorrow (August 6)," PAGASA said.
The weather bureau said Maymay is expected to maintain tropical storm strength as it approaches the Philippine landmass.
"After making landfall, Maymay will weaken into a tropical depression by tomorrow morning and may further weaken into a low pressure area by tomorrow afternoon or evening," PAGASA added. — MCG GMA News
