Flipkart has partnered with Netflix to offer a monthly Netflix Mobile subscription to eligible Plus members in India. The benefit does not require a separate subscription payment, but users must meet a shopping requirement every month to unlock it.
The offer is being introduced gradually, which means it may not immediately appear for every Flipkart Plus member. Some users may instead see an option to join the waitlist.
How Flipkart Plus members qualify
Eligible members must complete four successful Flipkart orders during the same calendar month. Each order must have a minimum value of Rs 299.
Orders placed through Flipkart, Flipkart Minutes and Flipkart Grocery can count towards the monthly requirement. However, cancelled or returned orders will not be considered successful transactions.
After completing the fourth qualifying order, users can claim one month of Netflix Mobile access. The shopping requirement must be completed again to receive the benefit in a subsequent month.
This makes the offer more relevant for customers who already place several monthly orders rather than users making additional purchases solely to unlock Netflix.
What the Netflix Mobile plan includes
The offer provides access to Netflix’s Mobile plan, which supports streaming on one smartphone or tablet at a time. Content is available in standard-definition quality.
The plan does not support streaming on televisions or laptops. It also lacks the higher video quality and simultaneous viewing options offered with Netflix’s Standard and Premium subscriptions.
Users receive access to the regular Netflix catalogue available under the Mobile plan. The Flipkart benefit does not create a separate or restricted content library.
How to claim the Netflix benefit
Once the monthly order requirement is completed, users can open the Flipkart app and visit the Plus section under My Account.
The Netflix benefit should appear with a claim or activation option. Users can then connect an existing Netflix account or create a new one using their email address or mobile number.
The activation must be completed after qualifying. Simply placing four orders may not automatically start the Netflix subscription.
Existing Netflix subscribers should check their plan
Customers already paying for Netflix Standard or Premium should review the activation terms before linking the same account.
Activating the Flipkart benefit on an existing account could switch it to the Mobile plan, removing television access, higher resolution and multi-device streaming. Using a separate account may avoid changing an existing premium subscription.
Flipkart has not announced when the Netflix benefit will become available to every Plus member in India.
