Comedian and content creator Samay Raina has donated Rs 10 lakh to the Assam Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to help with flood relief and rehabilitation work in the state.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma thanked Raina for the contribution on X. The message, however, soon led users to bring up the comedian’s earlier legal trouble involving his show India’s Got Latent.

CM Sarma acknowledged the contribution in a post on X and wrote, “Thank you for contributing to our relief efforts during this difficult time in Assam, Samay.”
Raina’s donation came as Assam continues to deal with the impact of floods. While many users praised the comedian for helping with relief work, others focused on his past dispute with the Assam government.
In 2025, Sarma had criticised content linked to Raina’s show India’s Got Latent. Assam Police later filed an FIR against Raina and others over allegations that the show included vulgar and explicit content.
Raina and other people connected to the show were also called for questioning by Assam Police. The comedian has since spoken about the legal cases during his stand-up shows, often making jokes about the controversy.

Users Bring Up The Old FIR
After CM Sarma’s thank-you message appeared online, several users connected the donation with the earlier case and joked that the FIR against Raina should now be withdrawn.
One user wrote, “Aab to samay bhai ka case withdrawal karlo sir,” asking the chief minister to drop the case. Another commented, “Bro you literally sent Assam Police to arrest him about 1.5years ago , irony bruhh.”
A user said, “Now get the FIR withdrawn. It was just a joke, what crime did he commit anyway?” Another simply wrote, “Usko FIR wapas ley lo.”
The comments brought the earlier India’s Got Latent controversy back into the discussion, with some users questioning whether the legal action against Raina had been too harsh.
At the same time, several people focused on the Rs 10 lakh contribution rather than the old dispute. They praised Raina for supporting flood relief and said his donation should be recognised separately from his past controversy with the Assam government.
