A note from a doctor has gone viral online, urging residents of their housing society in Noida not to approach their home seeking emergency medical assistance. They issued the note after a security personnel at their society woke them up in the middle of the night to attend to a medical emergency in another tower.
Their note was shared on Instagram, where the doctor addressed their message to neighbours, saying, “I am writing this to address a serious incident that occurred yesterday night at 11:06 PM, where tower security was sent to my apartment to wake me up for a medical emergency in another tower.”
The doctor said that while they sympathise with anyone facing a health crisis, seeking treatment at a private residence could waste crucial time during a medical emergency. “I need to clarify an important boundary for the safety of everyone in our society,” they said. “My home is a private residence, not a 24/7 clinic or casualty ward. I do not keep emergency life-saving equipment, monitors, oxygen, or emergency injections at home.”
“Every Single Second Counts”
They further urged residents not to contact neighbours or security personnel in search of a doctor during medical emergencies. The doctor, instead, advised them to immediately call an ambulance or a private hospital ambulance and proceed to the nearest hospital emergency room.
“When a medical crisis occurs, every single second counts,” they said, urging people to call a standard ambulance (102/112) or a private hospital ambulance and proceed to the nearest hospital emergency room. They added, “Proceed directly to the nearest hospital Emergency Room (ER) where proper equipment and on-duty staff are available. I request the management to strictly instruct all security personnel never to direct medical emergencies to residents’ homes.”

Internet Sides With The Doctor
The doctor’s message has sparked discussion online, with several people supporting their stance and agreeing that doctors residing in societies should not be treated as on-call emergency services simply because they live within the society.
“Absolutely correct. Emergency situations can’t be managed at home even by a doctor..For general problems, OPD consultation should be sought! During emergency situations, even a single minute is crucial and should not be wasted searching for a neighbourhood doctor,” said a person.
“What he is saying is correct. Rush to a hospital ASAP rather than relying on verbal diagnosis,” another quipped.
Meanwhile, a doctor recounted, “Completely agree ..happened to me so many times before ..a patient having HR of 170 was sent to me thinking I run a mini casualty..it’s soo disturbing ..the reason why most of the doctors don’t reveal their identities in society flats!!”
