Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) chief and former Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal has been discharged from Medanta Hospital in Gurugram after being treated for injuries sustained in an attack in Maharashtra’s Nanded.
Badal was injured on Thursday when a man allegedly tried to attack him with a sharp-edged weapon while he was heading towards the gurdwara at Takht Sri Hazur Sahib. The incident took place at around 1.30 pm.
According to reports, the attacker, identified as Nihang Jaspal Singh, approached Badal and allegedly attempted to stab him. He was reportedly carrying a “kirpan”. Security personnel quickly intervened, preventing the attack from causing a more serious injury.
