PlayTime Group is setting its sights on long-term diversification as it eyes its newly formed entertainment business taking over bulk of its revenues from its core online gaming business.
In December 2025, the digital gaming firm formed PlayTime Entertainment to steer the company’s expansion into entertainment and digital lifestyle sectors.
Meanwhile, its existing gaming operations transitioned into PlayTime Gaming.
PlayTime president and CEO Crisanto Roy Alcid, in a chance interview with reporters, bared that PlayTime Group’s “10- to 15-year horizon” points toward non-gaming or entertainment ventures eventually driving the bulk of its business.
"We see it eventually like being bigger," Alcid said referring to PlayTime’s entertainment, media, and technology ventures potentially outpacing its core gaming revenues.
The PlayTime Entertainment CEO acknowledged that while gaming yields high immediate tech returns, it is not ideal as a sole long-term revenue source.
"We know that gaming... it's not a reliable revenue stream," Alcid said.
"It's hard to rely on just one business. We want to be able to play a part and have multiple businesses across multiple [sectors],” he said.
As part of its entertainment diversification push, PlayTIme Entertainment forme a joint venture with Summit Media —PT Summit.
Alcid detailed how the collaboration originated through mutual networks and shared investor ties, notably connections between Playtime’s principal investors and the Gokongwei family.
"We feel confident that, again, our tech teams can provide the backend technology needed by the media industry," he said, noting the technical similarities between gaming and digital media operations.
Through the partnership, Playtime will serve as a customized backend technology provider tailored to individual media clients' needs rather than offering a one-size-fits-all solution.
"It's different for each of the clients... It's more of a service-oriented thing," Alcid said, adding “depending on the individual needs of each of the clients, that's when we can leverage."
Besides its technology-focused partnership with Summit Media, Playtime Entertainment’s portfolio includes co-productions or content partnerships, talent and monetization venture focusing on TikTok creators, and investments in sports media and athletic teams.
Furthermore, the PlayTime-Summit Media partnership will combine the former’s technology capabilities with the latter’s expertise in building lifestyle brands, producing content, and engaging with massive digital audiences. — BM GMA News
