The 342-Carat Diamond Behind Georgina’s Wedding Jewels Named The Queen of Kalahari by Chopard Co-President and Artistic Director Caroline Scheufele, the rough diamond combined two exceptional characteristics: D colour, the highest colour grade for a white diamond, and Flawless clarity. Its sheer size made the discovery even more remarkable. The 342-carat stone was eventually transformed into 23 diamonds, including five weighing more than 20 carats. Together, they became the heart of the Garden of Kalahari, which Chopard describes as its most precious jewellery set. A 50-Carat Diamond Became A Sunflower The five principal diamonds were cut into five different shapes—brilliant, heart, pear, cushion and emerald—and each was incorporated into a floral-inspired design. The largest, a spectacular 50-carat brilliant-cut diamond, became the centre of a sunflower motif. A 26-carat heart-shaped stone was transformed into a delicate pansy, while a 25-carat pear-shaped diamond inspired a banana blossom. Georgina Wore The Diamonds Two Ways For her wedding ceremony, Georgina let the jewellery take centre stage against her crisp white Gucci ensemble. She wore the dramatic diamond necklace with statement earrings, creating a striking contrast between the restrained tailoring of her bridal look and the brilliance of the stones. But the wedding-day look revealed only part of the Garden of Kalahari story. For a separate photoshoot, Georgina went all out, wearing multiple pieces from the collection together. The Necklace Has A ‘Secret’ Transformable Detail Part of the collection’s magic lies in the way its pieces can change form.
