The trailer of Geetu Mohandas’ Toxic was unveiled today in Bengaluru amid much fanfare. Apart from Yash, the film sees Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth in never-seen-before avatars. The film is set to release on August 26 in Kannada, English, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam languages.
The song Tabahi has already been garnering a lot of attention for Yash’s scintillating chemistry with Kiara. At the event, he heaped praises on Kiara, who he’s collaborating with for the first time. “We saw a glimpse of the kind of performance Kiara has delivered in Toxic. She’s so dedicated to her craft,” he said.
For him, Kiara stood out for being secure despite being a part of an ensemble film. “I’ve seen her work so hard. Initially, we all thought that getting so actors onboard would create problems and give rise to a lot of issues. But right from the very beginning, Kiara has been extremely down-to-earth. She dedicated herself and surrendered to this vision. Her performance shows what an actor has to go through unfortunately!” he remarked.
“She should continue doing what she believes in. People will appreciate and celebrate her even though we maybe a little ahead of times in this case,” Yash added. For the unversed, Kiara shot a portion of Toxic when she was pregnant. Yash reportedly helped her during the production by relocating the film’s shooting schedule from Bengaluru to Mumbai to avoid long-distance travel and ensure her comfort.
Kiara, on the other hand, stated that Toxic will mark a before-and-after moment in her career. “[I thank Geetu and Yash] for giving me a part that I know will be very, very special for me as an actor in my journey. I think there will be a Kiara before Toxic and a Kiara after Toxic… I truly believe that Geetu and Yash manifested for me to be Nadia in this film. They saw it in me and believed I was capable of this much before I knew that fearless leap that I was ready to take as an actor,” she said.
Kiara also spoke about how the experience of making Toxic has changed her expectations from future projects. Addressing Yash and Geetu, she joked that the two had “spoiled” the actors by giving them an experience they would now want to find again. “You have spoiled me and every actor in this room. On this film, I’m sure you all will agree with me,” she shared.
