Toxic marks the first ever onscreen collaboration between Yash and Nayanthara. At the trailer launch of the film in Bengaluru today, he heaped praises on her and thanked her for doing film as she’s known to be very picky about the kind of work she associates herself with.
“It takes a lot of grace to choose a film like this and do what she has done. She indeed is Lady Superstar. I know what market she has and how much fans love her,” he said. Nayanthara shot for the film after battling a lot of date issues. But Yash lauded her professionalism. He also revealed that all her scenes had to be rushed.
“The situation was such that when Nayanthara came onboard this film, there was some issue with the dates. The shoot had to be done very quickly. We didn’t have much time. We had to push through. She completed the film shoot despite her date issues. She have her best,” he remarked. He further hinted that she could be playing his sister in the film.
“She looks badass in Toxic! She looks like the most badass sister anyone can have! She nailed the part,” he said. At the event, Nayanthara said that she was unsure about signing Toxic because she doesn’t like to work in a film with as many actors.
She said, “When she (Geetu Mohandas) called me for the film, I wasn’t so sure because there are a lot of actors in the film, and I’m usually a little careful or maybe a little apprehensive about choosing a film where there are a lot of actors… I said, ‘No, I don’t think I want to do the film.’ She asked me some 10 million questions. I said, ‘Okay, it’s fine, just come and narrate it to me.'”
Nayanthara fondly called Yash “Rocky bhai” and said, “It’s like how you see him in the trailer, no? He’s like that in real. But, beyond that, let me tell you, I have never ever seen a more hardworking actor than Yash. Every single day on set, I’m just amazed at the way he works. This man has given 4.5 years of his life, and trust me when I tell you, he has literally sacrificed his life, his time with his family, his time with his kids, his personal life and everything he would enjoy.”
For the unversed, Nayanthara plays a dreaded gangster in Toxic named Ganga. Toxic also stars Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth and Tara Sutaria. It’s slated for a release on August 26.
