Ramayana Release Date Out: The makers of Ramayana have finally announced the release date of much-awaited movie. On Wednesday, Sony Pictures took to its official X handle and revealed that the Nitesh Tiwari’s directorial, which stars Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash in the lead, will hit theatres on November 6, 2026. This means that the film will be released two days before Diwali.
It should be noted that Ramayana, produced by Namit Malhotra, is releasing in two parts. While the first part is releasing on November 6, 2026, the second part will hit theatres around Diwali 2027. Ramayana: Part 2’s release date has not been announced as of now.
Recently, Ranbir Kapoor was speaking to The Direct, when he reflected on the challenge of adapting one of India’s most revered epics for the big screen. The actor admitted that fitting the Ramayana into just two films was no easy task. “To be honest, to tell Ramayana, you probably need a 10-part movie, but the kind of conciseness in two parts was very hard,” he said.
Ranbir further dismissed the notion that the Ramayana needed a major reinterpretation to connect with today’s audiences. He said, “I don’t think a story like Ramayana needs that. I think the text has stayed over 4000 years. Lord Rama has been the conscious gatekeeper of millions of people around the world, and I think everything that it talks about courage, good over evil, rightfulness, forgiveness, compassion, ego it’s a life lesson.”

Released in July 2026, the trailer opens with Yash’s Ravana proclaiming himself the ruler of all three worlds. As he unleashes chaos and destruction, Lord Vishnu takes the avatar of Ram to restore balance and protect the earth. The trailer then introduces Ranbir Kapoor’s Ram, who battles demons and safeguards his people before growing up and marrying Sita.
However, Ram and Sita’s life takes a dramatic turn when he is sentenced to 14 years of vanvaas. Sita, played by Sai Pallavi, and Lakshman, portrayed by Ravie Dubey, choose to accompany him into exile. What follows is the abduction of Sita by Ravana and the epic battle that ensues, setting the stage for one of the greatest confrontations between good and evil.
