He is the son of Bollywood’s most versatile actor, and one of his videos left the whole internet in tears. The star kid posted a video crying inconsolably, and hours later, he deleted the post from his social media.
It was Babil Khan, late legendary actor Irrfan Khan’s son, whose one video broke the internet and left everyone discussing the dark side of Bollywood.
On May 4, a video of Babil’s emotional breakdown went viral on Reddit. He was seen criticising Bollywood and also named Ananya Panday, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Raghav Juyal, Adarsh Gourav, Arjun Kapoor, among others.
After the video went viral, Babil deactivated his Instagram account. Hours later, he made a comeback and clarified that the video was extremely misinterpreted and that he was only trying to show his support to the actors he named in the video.
Following the video’s removal, Babil Khan’s team issued a clarification and claimed that his video was ‘widely misinterpreted’ and ‘taken out of context’. “In the clip, Babil was sincerely acknowledging a few of his peers whom he believes are making meaningful contributions to the evolving landscape of Indian cinema. His mention of artists like Ananya Panday, Shanaya Kapoor, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Raghav Juyal, Adarsh Gourav, Arjun Kapoor and Arijit Singh came from a place of genuine admiration, for their authenticity, passion, and efforts to restore credibility and heart in the industry,” clarified Babil’s team.
The official statement further reads, “Like anyone else, Babil is allowed to have difficult days, and this was one of them. We want to reassure all his well-wishers that he is safe and will be feeling better soon. That said, a video of Babil has been widely misinterpreted and taken out of context.”
But what did Babil say in the now-deleted video? In the clip, Babil was seen saying, “Bollywood is the most fakest, fakest, fakest industry that I’ve ever ever been a part of. But there are few people that want Bollywood to be better…I got to show to you so much more, so much more, so much more. I have so much more to give you.”
“What I mean to say is that I just want you guys to know that there are people like Shanaya Kapoor, Ananya Panday, Arjun Kapoor, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Raghav Juyal, Adarsh Gourav and Arijit Singh. There are so many more names. Bollywood is so f*****. Bollywood is so screwed,” he said in another part of the clip.
